Volunteer Positions - Retreat
Polka Dots
"Offer Hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4: 9-10 Hospitality was a highly valued Greek and Jewish virtue. It was absolutely necessary for the expansion of the gospel and necessary for the maintenance of the fellowship within the church as well as the image of the church from without.
The word various in Greek is the word Poikilos. This is where we get our English word Polka! The goal of the Polka Dots is to serve and encourage by using our gifts to faithfully administer God's grace in its various forms. Our team will be planning and coordinating all hospitality functions of the event as well as assisting and directing participants throughout the conference. The key gifts of this team are a servant's heart, organization, flexibility and an encouraging attitude.
Prayer
Prayer is the backbone of this entire experience. The focus and heart of the Prayer Team is to continuously pray and intercede for participants long before they arrive and long after they leave. Weeks of prayer and intercession are a necessary part of preparation. If you have a heart for prayer, have a mature and grounded walk with the Lord, this team would be great for you to consider. We meet at least twice a month for 4 months prior to the event for prayer and bible study.
Dance/Drama
The dance and drama team is a high energy team with a commitment level to match. In order to prepare for each event, the team commits to attending all practices. During the event, this team is on the go from sunrise until long after the sun sets. The D & D team is a physically challenging team. Not only are there rehearsals, but prop/set changes, costume preparation and then more rehearsals! If this is where God is directing you, His blessings are well worth the sacrifices of time and energy. This team requires a maximum of 10 members.
Facilitator Team
(Facilitator & Small Group Leaders) "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." Romans 15:4 One of the unique benefits of the Esther Experience is the opportunity for participants to pause, reflect, and apply biblical principles to their lives as they seek the Lord and listen to the message He has prepared for the weekend.
During break-out sessions, the Facilitator, along with the Small Group Leaders, will lead small group discussions and hands-on activities designed to encourage self-reflection, life application and a deeper intimacy with God. Members of the facilitator team are committed to being living vessels that enable participants to create and take away "spiritual markers" that inspire and affirm a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a deeper commitment to the gracious and merciful God we serve.
